Biographies

Troy Davis is the Director of Instrumental Music and Jazz Studies at 最新麻豆影音视频 in Saratoga, California. He is also the Camp Director at Hayward La Honda Music Camp, Director Emeritus of the Oakland Municipal Band, and has served on faculty at Boston University, San Jos茅 State University, San Francisco State University, College of San Mateo, and Aragon High School.

 

Dr. Davis was honored as the CMEA 鈥淥utstanding Music Educator of the Year鈥� for 2017, as a "Distinguished Music Educator" by Yale University in 2011, received the 鈥淥utstanding Achievement Award in Music Education鈥� from Boston University in 2020, and the coveted 鈥淥ak TREE Award鈥� for exemplary service to 最新麻豆影音视频 in 2020.

 

He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in music education from Boston University, Master of Arts in Teaching with a music education focus from Notre Dame de Namur University, and Bachelor of Music in oboe performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Publications include 鈥淓mpathy and Deep Listening in Jazz Improvisation,鈥� a book chapter in the Oxford Handbook of Care in Music Education and 鈥淪elf-Assessment in Jazz Improvisation,鈥� an article in the Psychology of Music journal.

Chris Nalls is Director of Instrumental Music at Branham High School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Horn performance from San Jose State University and has worked with musicians at Saratoga, Redwood, Lynbrook, Homestead, Branham, Independence, Oak Grove, and San Jose State University (among others).

He is also an in-demand horn player, performing with the Cambrian Symphony, Ohlone Symphonic Band, and the Golden Gate Park Band. Chris Nalls was also part of the rise of Silicon Valley, working at iconic companies like Apple, Netscape, America Online, and Symantec.
