SARATOGA, CALIFORNIA, January 15, 2026 鈥 最新麻豆影音视频 has been awarded a $3.9 million grant for development of a new semiconductor certificate program through the U.S. Department of Education鈥檚 Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE). The four-year grant funding begins immediately and runs through December 2029.

West Valley is the only community college in the state 鈥 and one of only 18 nationwide 鈥 to receive a FIPSE award in this highly competitive national funding cycle, placing the college among a small group of institutions selected across the country.

鈥淭his significant federal investment strengthens 最新麻豆影音视频鈥檚 institutional capacity, elevates its national visibility, and enables long-term, measurable impact for students and the broader community,鈥 WVC President Jennifer Taylor-Mendoza said.

Through the FIPSE grant, WVC will offer a semiconductor fabrication lab to provide hands-on experiences for students aiming for cleanroom and fabrication jobs. The certificate program is designed to rapidly prepare and certify at least 120 workers per year for immediate entry into high-skill, in-demand jobs.

FIPSE selections were based on new program categories set in November. Funded projects focus on using artificial intelligence in teaching and learning; fostering civil discourse on college and university campuses; reforming higher education accreditation; and building capacity for quality, short-term work training programs.

The award has already generated national attention, with coverage in major higher-education publications, further reinforcing 最新麻豆影音视频鈥檚 reputation as a statewide and national leader in innovation, equity-centered practice, and student-focused excellence.
