SOCI 002: Social Problems

Course Description

This course has students identify and sociologically analyze contemporary social problems, with emphases on global dynamics, cross-cultural comparisons, and the U.S. context. Foci include the role of power and ideology in the definition of social problems, specific problem causes and consequences, evaluations of proposed solutions and methods of intervention. Students are provided with a comprehensive overview with topical emphases of specific current events, policy debates, and emerging social trends through the lens of sociology and other related disciplines.
