Course Description
This course examines concepts of health from multiple perspectives and considers the biological, psychological, and sociological aspects of health, as well as how health is shaped by culture and the organization of society with an emphasis on viewing course topics through a public health lens. Topics include, but are not limited to, stress and psychological health, substance abuse, nutrition, weight management, sexual health, exercise, chronic disease, relationships, minority health, and aging. We also consider social determinants of health, health inequities, current world and public health issues, healthcare delivery, and other significant contributions to the study of health.
